We have received feedback on both our individual Digipaks and video draft..
video:
'Good use of lighting'
The lighting was an important part of our video. The lighting had to be correct and look effective, due to us using a projecter screen.
'the creation of minimalistic party worked well. Is it just girls at your party?'
We didn't have as many people as we would've like at the filming. Therefore we had to use very few people in a small space. We previously found an advert that used this similar technique.
'The backgrounds of the video looked good for party themed video'
This was achieved using a projector screen that was connect to a laptop which had different backgrounds (found on the internet).
'some of the lipsyncing is out of time'
Due to the song being a 'dance' track we had difficulties trying to get the lip-syncing exactly in time. Therefore on our draft some of it is out of time. To improve this we are going to re-shoot some parts with the singer.
'The artist could look more dressed up e.g red lipstick'
We understand the feedback however we do not agree with this because the style of the band is edgy and quite casual. This is seen throughout the video. Therefore it would give promote the fun/casual and edgy message we wanted.
'great effects'
We're also happy with the effects on our draft. However on our final version e would like them to be more polished and professional.
Digipak and Advert Feedback.
'looks like a whole media product' (steph's)
'Photo looks professional' (steph's)
'links with the theme of the video well' (matte's)
'Digipak and advert suit the type of band you've created'
From looking at our feedback we can now make positive alterations.

Music video draft
Our video draft has been completed. However we have has a few issues uploading from the macs. Both Mrs. Hammond and Mr. Ford have seen the video and given us feedback. We will hopefully have the video on our blogs shortly.
Feedback:
The feedback was mostly positive. Although the suggestions were to get rid of the 'party scenes' and just have the two band members against the different projected backgrounds. This will make the video look more professional and as a whole. Due to the party scenes not really matching the rest of the video.
Another criticism was the timing. Due our video being a 'dance' genre it requires a lot of short sharp cuts to match with the music and some of our shots were out of time.
We were also advised to re-film a few parts of the female singer to make her lip-syncing look better.
What we're going to do:
1. Re-film Chloe's parts and make sure lip-syncing is in time
2. Cut out the party scenes. In order to do this affectively we will have to start fresh on the editing. Starting fresh will give us more chance to achieve what we wanted originally.
3. Make sure all short cuts, especially where the artists are singing are matched/in time with the music.

Draft feedback.
From the feedback we gained from our draft version bring that the party scenes in the video didn’t look as professional as the shots of our band against the coloured screens, and that they didn’t work as well, we have made the decision to reshoot some of the shots against the screens and make it more about the band, taking out the party/ group shots, and to re mold the video.

Filming
When filming areas of the more 'dance' shots in our music video we have
tried to go for a similar effect in this video, we didn’t have access to as
many people needed for a real house party to film so we have taken a few people
but tried to make it look like there were more people involved, using a
technique in a small space to create a chaotic and party like atmosphere.

Risk assessment
There could be many risks during the process of making our music video. This risk assessment will make us aware of the possible risks and how they can be avoided.
1. Tripping over objects at location?
Answer: Yes
Likelihood: Medium
Severity: Medium
Persons at risk: All members of crew(2), actors(20) and band memebers(2).
Precautions: Minimise the risks by briefing all members of cast and crew before the filming takes place in order to prevent any accidents. Make sure wires from microphones, keyboards or lights are not in the way of people.
2. Camera and equipment getting damaged?
Answer: Yes
Likelihood: Medium/high
Severity: Medium
Persons at risk: All actors(20) and crew(2). Equipment.
Precautions: Take care when handling the cameras and other equipment when moving around the location to film. When filming has finished put the camera back in it's leather case each time to avoid any damage.
3. Special effects?
Answer: Yes
Likelihood: High
Severity: Medium
Persons at risk: Members of crew(2) and band(2).
Precautions: We might be using a smoke machine in our music video, therefore crew or cast members with allergies or asthma would be told before the filming takes place that they might be at risk and then given the option as to whether they would like to carry on with the filming. Strobe lights might also be used when filming; any member of the cast or crew would also need to be briefed about the possible dangers especially if they might suffer from epilepsy.
4. Temporary structures?
Answer: Yes
Likelihood: Low
Severity: High/ Medium
Persons at risk: All actors(20) and crew(2). Equipment
Precautions: To prevent any major/minor injuries to the crew, band members or actors temporary structures such as a the flood light/strobe light and possibly a ladder would have to be fixed correctly using a screwdriver or appropriate stand and someone must be holding the ladder safely. Temporary structures like the DJ set would also need to set up properly to prevent harm to the DJ, surrounding people or equipment.
5. Vehicles?
Answer: No, we will not use or be around any vehicles when filming.
Likelihood: low
severity: medium
Persons at risk: -
Precautions: -
6. Weapons?

Theorys
The Musical Synaesthesia- in our music video features in the song will determine when length and style of shots. The upbeat sound in our song 'heads will roll' will determine the mood in the video and the way we have chosen to put it together, for example the DJ sounds in the track we will be using a party scene to reflect these sounds, and will be filming a DJ also.

Conventions of the band performance- a degree of authenticity, the artist will be lip-syncing close-up, The Dj in action, repetition of chorus shots to enhance ‘repeatability’ for example an image of the artist holding her head is repeated 10 times to create a sense of chaos, unusual camerashots and angles.
Representation in our music video
Representation in our music video...
Who?
our band includes one female singer (Chloe Morgan Webster) and one male producer/DJ (Joe Cooper). The video will follow a group of young teenagers at a party. The video will predominantly be representing young people aged 17-25. However our target audience is people aged between 16 and 30. We want to create a real representation of young people in this video.
What?
Our video will include a performance from Chloe (lead singer) as she is amongst the party. It will also feature Joe (male band member) with DJ decks. We will be focussing mostly on the lead female singer as she makes her way through the party and finds herself walking through a house. This video will fall into the amplification genre, there is no real story/narrative but some shots will be amplified to match the music.
Where?
We have chosen a simple location for our video. Most of the filming will take place inside my (Mattie's) house along with the extras (party people). There will be a few external shots in the back garden too. One of our concerns with shooting outside was the lighting, however we have a flood light that can be used to light up the people outside.During the video the female singer will be walking through the house. Bedrooms, Hallways and bathrooms may be used.
Why?
The reason we have chosen to carry out most of the filming in these location is because a party situation would be in this sort of house and we want everything to be as realistic as possible. in the main room we are filming in there is a projector and screen on the wall this can add to the effect of the party because images can be shown on the screen or music can be played.
How?
Before filming we have created a storyboard timeline to the music we are using to check the shots fit with the theme, we have mind mapped ideas on what props we need and the costumes that need to be involved.
Storyboard on paper
This is the storyboard we have created on paper, this storyboard shows each stage of filming so we can clearly see what shots we need to consider when filming for our music video, from this we have been able to consider appropriate locations and props we need to include and it has given us a clear idea of how many shots we need to use.

Storyboarding and Animatic
We have created a rough idea of what our video will look like with this storyboard. The storyboard was created on IMovie which we found easy to use.
The timing however is not matched perfectly with the music, and the lyrics need to be matched better to the action of the female artist. We are aware that the cuts/camera shots are probably too long for this 'dance' video so they need to be modified so they fit with the music. This is something we need to consider and put right before the filming takes place.
Each Post it pad is numbered so the order of each cut is clear and when it comes to filming we will be able to have our numbered storyboard in-front of us and refer to the shot we want via the number on the post it.

pitch feedback
One of the main concerns with our media video was the lighting. Some of our shots will take place in the dark therefore we will need to use artificial lighting. To solve the lighting issue we have a flood light that we can use for the exterior shots as well as disco lights for the interior shots of the party.
Another issue raised during our pitch was the concern that we will need a lot of people to make our ‘Project x’ Party scene look realistic. We will aim to resolve this problem by having approximately twenty people organised in a small area to create the illusion that there are 100+ people there.
Before filming, we also have to think about the props we use e.g dj mixing board. As well as this the style of the band is crucial and so is the style of the people in the party. We want them to represent our target audience/ audience profile.

New song idea
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=umAL-6-j1Ew&feature=related
This song was originally by 'Yeah yeah yeah's' and was remixed for the film 'Project X'. Although this song does not have a video, we think the song could work well with our ideas of a 'party' featuring young people. The only concern we have with our song choices is whether they are too mainstream/well known.
Audience Profile
Our music video would be watched by someone such as...
Name: Sarah Brown
Age: 19
City: London
Occupation: Shop floor worker in popular highstreet store.
Education: Currently studying Fashion buying at London College of Fashion.
Bio: When sarah isn't working or studying she likes to go out in London with her friends at the weeekend and listen to songs that are in the charts so she can sing along. Sarah is open minded about fashion and music, she'll often be listening to her music on the tube to zone out from the busy city atmosphere. Sarah shares a flat with her 3 friends.
Music Taste: Florence and The Machine, Calvin Harris, Rudimental, Niki Minaj, Plan B, Rita Ora, Rihanna, The xx, Redlight, Two Door Cinema Club.

Inspiration
Even though this video is actually a trailer for a film called 'project x' we really like the youthful, party theme of this video. It would fall into the illustration genre, although it doesn’t really have much of a narrative story to it. We want our video to attract young people therefore this video is ideal because it gives an insight into the lives of teenagers and the over-exaggerated view of the parties and activities the get up to.
Genre of the band/music
Decisions made so far for the music video
I will be working with Mattie White to produce a band profile and music video,
The genre of the band and music we have decided on is Dance music.
We have decided we are using 2 band members a female and a male.
